Our Mission

The mission of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People is to ensure the political, educational, social, and economic equality of rights of all persons and to eliminate racial hatred and racial discrimination.

Our Meetings

The Jefferson County Branch of the NAACP meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month in the fellowship hall of St. Phillips Church at 411 South Lawrence Ave (South Martin Delany Place), Charles Town, WV, 25414

Religious Affairs

The NAACP has always had a strong relationship with the religious community—one of its closest allies for nearly a century. From the beginning, the NAACP has been regarded as the fighting arm of many churches with numerous members participating on both fronts. Churches in the Jefferson County Community host an Annual NAACP Sunday.

Political Action

The Political Action committee works to keep the community informed of the platforms of candidates running for office and bills being proposed in the legislature. Candidates forums are held on a regular basis.

Membership

The membership committee actively solicits memberships at community functions, through the churches and reminders to those who have become delinquent. A certain number of members must be maintained to be an active Branch of The NAACP. The Jefferson County Branch exceeds that number with Life Memberships.

Energy

The Energy Committee wants to see clean energy working for & in our communities, our electric utilities truly acting in the interest of their ratepayers, and an end to environmental injustices.

I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and eat with him, and he with me
